The 6 Sure-Fire Tips For a Clutter-Free Home
by Brian Armstrong

Get started decluttering your house. Having a home free of clutter will enable you to declutter your life as well. You can follow these simple tips to get started decluttering.

1. Don't Buy "Stuff". Accumulating more "things" will only add to your clutter. Training yourself to turn a blind eye to sales and deals. Just because it's a good deal doesn't mean you have to buy it.

2. Stop Procrastinating. Choose one small easy job to do every day. After you've developed this as a new habit, you'll be ready to take on a few bigger projects. If you tackle the smaller jobs, it will make the declutter process a lot easier. If you try to tackle the whole house at once, it will overwhelm you.

3. Stop Hoarding. Collecting stuff and piling it up is obviously no good. Get out of the habit of collecting stuff. If you can end the hoarding madness, you're more than half-way there to declutter heaven.

4. Don't Lose Focus. Set aside 15 minutes a day, something manageable that will keep you consistent. If it's too much time, you'll soon give up, if it's too little, you won't accomplish your goals. Pick a project, start the timer and be disciplined enough to quit when the timer goes off.

5. Throw Away "Stuff". Get in the habit of throwing stuff out. Your reluctance to throw stuff away will only add to your clutter. If your first instinct is to throw it away, do it! Don't try to find a reason why you should keep something. Change this habit and the majority of your decluttering problems will be resolved.

6. Things In Their Place. You may have heard a place for everything and everything in it's place. This is especially true as it relates to decluttering. Prioritize what you want to keep and start finding places for the things on the top of your list and go from there. As soon as you run out of space, throw everything else away. This may seem harsh, but remember that whatever you own ends up owning you.

Getting and staying organized will make your life a lot easier to manage. Decluttering is more than just a physical change to things around the house, it is a mindset change and won't necessarily come easy. Stick with it and you'll achieve your goals.

How I Learned to Declutter My House With These Simple Tips

By Penny Scott

Decluttering a whole house can seem overwhelming. BUT if it's broken down into bite size chunks, it doesn't seem so bad. These tips helped me declutter my house. Hopefully you'll find them just as useful.

#1. Start with decluttering for 15 minutes a day. It's enough time to achieve something. It's short enough that we can all fit it into our busy schedules. If you do this one thing, it becomes a good habit. It will also ensure you keep your home clutter free in the future.

#2. Pick one room for your 15 minutes a day sessions and stick to it until it's decluttered. It doesn't really matter which room you start with.

#3. Declutter storage space first. Once you get control of drawers, cabinets and closets it will be so much easier to find a home for everything.

#4. Be ruthless in deciding what to keep and let go. You can't succeed at decluttering unless your willing to let stuff go.

#5. Make it easy to get rid of stuff. Designate space for items you want to sell, donate to charity, give away, send for recycle or bin.

#6. Deal with paper. Little and often works best. Paper causes a lot of clutter. Bills, invoices, receipts... it's so easy to get out of control. Get a simple system going for incoming mail. You'll need a bin and a 2 tier tray. One tray for items that need to be actioned, the other for documents that need to be filed. Set up a filing system. Use a diary for scheduling actions, like paying bills.

#7. As soon as you bring something new into the house, set aside storage space for it. Always keep it in it's place when not in use. Click here for more ideas on how to declutter your home fast. I followed the advice on how to declutter my house and you can too. Why don't you give it a try?
